Hello all and Happy New Year!
Here we are at the end of the year and the beginning of another, so it seems like time for a quick update and HUGE thank you to everyone who has helped get this “new and improved ” Houston Greeter operation started.
Our beta-test period of the last few months and our core group of intrepid Houston Greeters have proven successful in so many ways! Once again, visitors have shown their interest in Houston and its Greeters by finding the website, exploring the Greets and contacting a Greeter to learn more about our city. We’ve had nearly 40 requests for Greets to serve 92 people. Visitors from 10 different countries and 6 US states have requested Houston’s Greeters! This is really amazing for a three month test-period in which we’ve not advertised or marketed the program in any way. Again, thanks to all the Greeters and everyone who is excited about making Houston Greeters a success.
While the successes are plentiful at this early stage, we’re finding ways to improve our service and communication. Reports of your experiences and any feedback are not only welcome, but are a critical tool for us to improve. Please keep it all coming!
The new year will bring new benchmarks and challenges. Soon, the beta testing will be complete and we’ll be inviting more interested Houstonians to become Greeters! It’s clear we’ve found a great way to help visitors and locals share a bit of our city so please spread the word and share with your friends.
