Truth BBQ

Truth BBQ
110 S Heights Blvd, Houston, TX 77007
Thu-Sun 11am until sold out

Truth BBQ, founded by pitmaster Leonard Botello IV, has rapidly ascended to the top tier of Texas barbecue — a remarkable achievement in a state where BBQ is practically a religion. Texas Monthly named Truth one of the top 50 BBQ joints in the state, and the accolades keep coming.

The star of the menu is the moist brisket — smoked low and slow over post oak, with a deep bark and a butter-tender interior that melts on your tongue. The house-made sausage, pork ribs, and pulled pork are all exceptional, and the scratch-made sides (mac and cheese, collard greens, potato salad) are far better than typical BBQ accompaniments.

What sets Truth apart is the attention to every detail. The bread is baked in-house, the pickles are house-made, and the desserts — especially the banana pudding and pecan pie — are worth saving room for. The restaurant also offers a full bar with craft cocktails and local beers.

The Heights location features a spacious dining room and covered patio, a significant upgrade from Botello's original Brenham location where he first gained fame.

Visitor Tips: Arrive by 11am on weekends to avoid the longest waits. The brisket sells out, so don't come late. Order the moist brisket — it's what put Truth on the map. You can call ahead for large orders.
