The Breakfast Klub
The Breakfast Klub is a Houston institution that has been serving soul food breakfast since 2001, earning a devoted following that regularly wraps around the building in Midtown. Founded by Marcus Davis, the restaurant has been featured on Food Network, Travel Channel, and in countless national food publications.
The signature dish is the wings and waffles — crispy, perfectly seasoned fried chicken wings served atop a fluffy Belgian waffle with powdered sugar. It's the dish that put The Breakfast Klub on the map and remains the most-ordered item. The catfish and grits runs a close second — crispy fried catfish filets over creamy, cheesy grits.
Other standouts include the buttermilk pancakes (fluffy towers served with real butter and warm syrup), the turkey links, and the shrimp and grits. The coffee is strong and the orange juice is fresh-squeezed.
The restaurant's Midtown location has become a community gathering spot, where locals, tourists, politicians, and celebrities all wait in the same line for the same incredible food. The walls are covered with photos of notable visitors and community events.
Visitor Tips: The line moves faster than it looks. Weekday mornings (7-8am) have shorter waits. The wings and waffles are a must-try. Street parking is limited — there's a lot behind the building. Cash and cards accepted.
