Paris Greeters
Paris Greeters offer one of the most authentic ways to experience the French capital — free, personal walks with passionate Parisians who share their neighborhoods, stories, and insider knowledge. Part of the Global Greeter Network, Paris Greeters volunteer their time to show visitors a side of Paris that guidebooks and tour buses simply can't reach.
Each greeter walk lasts 2-3 hours and is tailored to your interests. Love food? Your greeter might take you through the markets of the Marais or introduce you to a family-run fromagerie in the 11th arrondissement. Passionate about history? Discover hidden medieval passages, revolutionary landmarks, or the artistic haunts of Montmartre beyond the tourist trail.
The program is entirely free (though greeters appreciate when visitors cover their own metro tickets and coffee). Walks are available in French, English, and several other languages, and can be adapted for visitors with mobility concerns.
To arrange a Paris Greeter walk, submit a request through the Greeters website at least 2-3 weeks before your visit. You'll be matched with a greeter whose interests and neighborhood knowledge align with your preferences.
Visitor Tips: Request your greeter well in advance — popular dates fill up quickly. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring a small gift from your hometown as a gesture of appreciation. Be open to unexpected discoveries — the best greeter walks often go off-script.
