A Stroll around Montrose, One of Houston’s Oldest Neighborhoods

About the Greet:

During our walk you will experience the old and new that one of Houston’s oldest, most diverse neighborhoods, Montrose, has to offer. Montrose is a mix of tree-lined streets, art galleries, coffee shops, antique stores, bars, and thrift shops. Since it is a large area, we will only catch a colorful glimpse of Montrose as we walk through a few residential streets, then stroll down busy Westheimer, Montrose’s eclectic commercial area. Along the way, feel free to browse through a thrift store, antique shop, or some other unusual boutique. About halfway through our walk, we will stop at one of Houston’s unique coffee shops to sip on a cup of Joe while I share a little of Montrose’s rich history. So please wear comfortable clothes and shoes but keep in mind that I have a short and long version of the walk – whatever meets your needs. After the walk, I can offer suggestions if you would like to drive around and see more of Montrose; there are many hidden gems throughout the entire neighborhood.

About Me:

Hi, I'm Kathy and I love sharing my own neighborhood with others. I've lived in Houston for thirty-six years and the best of those, the last eight years, have been spent in Montrose. It's where I've always wanted to live. Now that I'm finally here, I'm finding that Montrose is changing, becoming gentrified. That's one reason I want to share it with you. I want people to know the old Montrose as well as the new. I hope you will fall in love with both, as I have.

  1. Fanscinating Montrose

So glad to take the Montrose tour with Kathy. We walked through a couple of blocks in Montrose and kathy told us all these historical events, celebrities, changes involved along those streets and buildings. We’re amazed to find out there are plenty good restaurants, nice coffee shops and antique stores in the neighborhood. We had a cheerful chat at a cozy coffee shop. If you wanna try to explore something unique in Houston. I bet You won’t regret to take the tour to Montrose with Kathy.
